Will I Ever Get this Finished??

ok, i've had this rug for about 3 years...it's almost finished.
i had run out of the deeper background color and couldn't find a match...the problem was that some of it was cut in 6 and i hate working with narrower sizes of wool so i finally found some very light wool strips i had and i soaked them in tea and then dried them...not quite as deep a color as the other but it will have to do, and those are #8 so i will finish this up this week, I hope...
this is probably the largest rug i've ever hooked...oh, and i've decided not to hook the surrounding area at all and just finish it square...

Sandi!
Using what they had on hand is what made the old rugs we see today so appeal to us. I think your rug is very old looking. I love it! Hugs, Lori

I love your rug - and the fact that you've run out of wool and have to try to make a close match makes it even more special to me - that's exactly what they had to do in the 'old days'.

Hello, very sweet rug, love it. I`ve just learnt the art of hooking, enjoying it but just worked on small rugs, can`t imagine doing one that size!!! maybe one day. Blessings Francine.

Go with the make-do theme. I love that you have tea dyed some wool. If necessary, unhook some spots and weave in the new wool. It will come out great. I love it so far!

Its beautiful! I feel the same way about my little cardinal mat, so I put it aside and started working on a flag runner, lol. :-)
